Frequently Asked Questions

How many hours of work placement do I need to do for Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)

icon

The course contains a minimum of 160 hours of work placement. To find out what the suitable workplaces are for this course, download the course guide.

I am a full time carer for someone (mother/father/relative) - can I use this as work placement?

icon

Unfortunately, it is essential that students work with multiple people with different requirements. That is why work placement is so essential. Work placement must be conducted in an aged care, disability or home and community organisation. We also require a supervisor to sign off to confirm the work has been completed to the required standard.

Can I also work in aged care if I study the disability stream?

icon

Unfortunately, Open Colleges is unable to advise you if you can or cannot work in aged care or disability studying the opposite stream. This would be up to each organisation that you apply to, as they may or may not accept your qualification. If you would like to be able to work in either industry, we recommend that you consider completing both streams. Fortunately, we do offer CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability).
