Career Commitment T&C's
This commitment enables Open Colleges students who do not achieve the objective specified during their enrolment (e.g. Enter the workforce, career change, promotion, learning new skills/hobby) within 6 months of completing their course, to receive a second Open Colleges course or module selected by Open Colleges of equal or lesser value for no additional course fee (the Commitment Course), in order to assist the student to gain additional training necessary to achieve their specified outcome.
The conditions of the commitment are:
The Commitment only applies to online courses offered by Open Colleges
The Commitment does not apply to face-to-face courses offered by the School of Health
It only applies to Australian domestic students.
The student must have successfully completed or graduated from their initial course within the maximum course duration
The commitment will only apply if the student has paid their course fees in full
If course pre-requisites and/or eligibility criteria apply for the Commitment Course, the student must meet these conditions to be enrolled in the Commitment Course
The commitment will only apply if the student has made reasonable efforts to achieve their specified objective during their course and within the 6 months’ post course completion. Open Colleges will assess and determine whether the student has made reasonable efforts based on evidence of effort provided by the student. Examples of this include:
Proof of job applications in an industry related to their course of study
Proof of applications within the same employer for promotion or other jobs related to their course of study
Students that enrol as a hobbyist will need to let us know what skills were not learned in their course (to help us close the skill gap)
To accept the commitment, the student must contact Open Colleges within 6 months after the date which is 6 months after completion date of the initial course, after which the commitment expires.
The commitment applies to any course of equal or lesser value. If the second course is more expensive the student will need to pay the difference in the course fees.
The offer is limited to one Commitment Course
The commitment is non-transferrable
The commitment is only valid for new enrolments after (July 3rd, 2017).
Open Colleges reserves the right to cease to offer the commitment at any time without notice, provided that the commitment will remain in place for any student enrolled prior to the commitment offer being cancelled.
Diploma of Business
Diploma of Business
A comprehensive and all-round course to get your foot in the door of a business career.
You will need to have completed Year 12, or equivalent. Equivalency can be demonstrated by one of the following:
A qualification at Certificate III level or higher, OR
Two years of industry experience in a role that requires the use of written documentation and communication.
You will need to be at least 18 years old.
This course requires you to read learner workbooks, undertake a range of written assessments and engage in online discussions. Furthermore, the delivery mode relies on the extensive use of written communication. As such, entry to the course requires the successful completion of English to Year 12 level.
If you have not successfully completed English at Year 12 level, you can demonstrate equivalency with one of the following:
Successful completion of a Nationally Recognised Training qualification at Certificate III level or higher; OR
2 years’ relevant industry experience in a role that requires the use of written documentation and communication.
Open Colleges recognises that not all people are able to read, write and perform calculations to the same standard. To help give you an idea of the language, literacy and numeracy skills required to study this course, you can undertake the online Language, Literacy and Numeracy tool available on the Open Colleges website. This assessment tool can also help you determine your learning level and plan your future studies.
You will need access to a computer and the internet and have basic computing skills. Minimum specifications for your computer are:
Microsoft Office 2010 or equivalent
Broadband internet connection
2GB of RAM
CD-ROM or DVD drive
Adobe Reader XI or equivalent
Adobe Flash Player 10 or higher.
Access to printer and associated software
Access to scanner and associated software
Digital imaging software
File compression software.

You will need access to:
A digital video recording device and/or a digital camera and associated software to save and upload video, image and audio files to OpenSpace. Many mobile phones and smart phones include this technology.
Software to view online videos and images. Software such as Adobe Reader, Windows Media Player, Windows Photo Viewer etc. are available as a free download from the internet.
To successfully complete this course, you will require basic computing skills. This includes:
Creating, saving and editing Microsoft Office documents.
Accessing and searching the internet.
Downloading and saving documents from websites.
Uploading documents through websites.
Participating in online discussions.
Compressing image files.
Connecting digital cameras and downloading and storing images.
Video assessments are part of this course. You'll need to record assessments and upload them to Open Space.

If you pay your course fees up-front in full, you’ll benefit from a discount. When you pay in full, we don’t have to spend extra money on administration for tasks such as payment plan processing. Instead, we get to pass this saving onto you in the form of a discount.
ZipMoney Payment Plan
If you need a little more flexibility in your finances, and want to pay off your course fees over a longer period of time, you can switch to a zipMoney payment plan. Essentially, zipMoney pays your course fees for you, and you pay this loan back over 24, 36 or 48 months. As long as you are eligible, you can switch to a zipMoney plan at any time.
Pay for you course in weekly or fortnightly instalments. By paying in instalments, you can schedule your payments around your regular outgoings and get ahead without breaking the bank. Open Colleges payment plans are interest-free.
Damian has worked in the IT industry for over eight years in many different roles. Starting from desktop support, he progressed to network and systems engineering, software development and IT project management. He has worked for international organisations in both Timor-Leste and Papua New Guinea, while learning to fluently speak Tetun. His most recent position was IT Manager for a large multinational corporation. Damian’s qualifications include the Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology (Networks & Systems), TAE40110 Certificate IV Training and Assessment and Certificate II in Information Technology.
Masoud Tymouri, our business, human resources, management and occupational health and safety trainer, is highly experienced in training and assessing both local and international students. The expertise that Masoud has developed during 18-plus years of practical experience is supported by a lengthy list of qualifications. He has successfully completed a Master's of Leadership & Management in Education, Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Studies, Bachelor's of Business, Advanced Diploma of Management, Advanced Diploma of Management (Human Resources), Diploma of Occupational Health & Safety and Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment. Masoud brings all his knowledge and experience to his training role at Open Colleges, and provides every support to his students throughout their learning experience.
Taryn has many years of experience in Real Estate and business services, working as a property manager in both Government and private organisations. She has worked as a trainer since 2013 and has worked with both classroom and online students.
Taryn holds a Diploma of Business, Diploma of Business Administration, Diploma of Management, Cert III in Property Services, Statement of Attainment for Strata Services, Cert IV in Training and Assessment and she is currently completing her Bachelor of Business and Cert IV in Property Services.
Teresa has 20 years’ experience in marketing strategy and communications together project management in the shopping centre and retail industries. Teresa began her career working as a promotions manager for a leading department stores, being responsible for the opening promotions; store advertising and sales promotions. As a consultant, Teresa advises clients on all aspects of strategic marketing planning and implementation focusing on retail and shopping centres.
Teresa currently lectures at Macquarie University and is a training consultant to Western Sydney University. Teresa’s qualifications include a Master of Marketing and Management; Post Graduate Diploma in Management; Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management; Diploma of Project Management; Diploma of Marketing and Communications; Diploma of Vocational Diploma of Vocation Education & Training; Diploma of Training Design & Development and Cert IV in Training and Assessment.
Tony is an experienced Work Health and Safety professional with over 18 years of industrial and projects experience (engineering, construction and manufacturing), and demonstrated expertise in the implementation, auditing and compliance of HSEQ management systems; along with proficiency in Training and Assessment of Australian Adult Vocational Education. Tony is currently undertaking his masters of Occupational Health and Safety and a licensed Auditor. He is also a fellow Member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management and an associate member of the institute of Environmental Management and Assessment.
