Intro to Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing & Disability) | SA & WA campus-based learning

Our nationally recognised CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing & Disability) qualification offers a blend of on-campus and self-directed learning. You’ll gain hands-on experience with skills lab training and clinical placements, empowering you to deliver exceptional care to your clients. Our course will give you the knowledge and skills to help you to contribute and make a positive impact on the lives of older people and those living with a disability. You will learn hands-on skills to support your individual clients’ needs such as maintaining personal care, supporting their skill development, and other person-centred care. Your training is delivered and supported with a personal touch by our experienced and highly skilled educators through a blended learning approach of classroom delivery and industry standard simulated skills lab. This course requires you to complete 160 hours of supported vocational work placement (80hrs in residential care and 80hrs in disability support) where you will use your newly developed care skills in the real world professionally and confidently. What you’ll learn in this course

This qualification includes a range of units designed to equip you with the foundational skills and knowledge to support the independence, dignity, and wellbeing of both elderly clients and people living with disability. Graduate job-ready in one of Australia’s fastest-growing industries and transform yourself into a versatile, in-demand support worker. 

You will engage with online and on campus learning, including pre-readings and self-directed learning packages before attending your face-to-face facilitated education. The delivery schedule consists of two (2) full days of attendance on campus per week with your educator and practical sessions in our simulation skills lab. 

You will be required on average, to commit at least 10 to 20 hours per week, self-directed study time (in your own time) to complete the pre-readings, self-directed learning packages, workbooks and assessment materials.

Do I organise my own practical work placements or is this something the school organises for me?

The School organises all placements through their partnered host facilities. Students do not organise their own placements.   

Request and special considerations can be made to the placements team to be factored in for your placement locations and rostered times.   

Placements are full time only.

What are the entry requirements for CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) qualification?

Entry Requirements:  

  • Be 16 years of age and over (not currently enrolled in school)  
  • Be an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or have a permanent humanitarian visa or certain temporary visa types with study rights  
  • Reside in either South Australia or Western Australia  

Course Requirements:  

  • Complete a Core Skills Profile for Adults (CSPA) proficiency assessment online. Please note that eligible South Australia funded students must undertake assessment on campus.  
  • Be able to provide an unencumbered National Police Clearance  
  • Be physically fit to meet the demands of manual handling skills, course mandatory requirements and for future employment
