We're an industry leader

There’s a simple reason why today OC is the largest, private, online vocational educator in Australia: it’s because we’ve been doing distance education for a long time - 125 years, to be exact. This makes us Australia's first distance education provider.

Back in 1895 we were the International Correspondence School operating in Pennsylvania.  Even though we were all the way over in the United States, we had Australian students who were keen to learn. In 1910, we opened in Australia as ICS and in 1921 we officially registered as an Australian business.

Since then, clearly times have changed. But OC has always kept up, creating and finding new ways to educate people. In the beginning, we delivered our courses through snail mail. Later on, we went digital and moved our course content onto CDs. Then, with the advancement of the internet, we went online from the get-go.

We also understand that ‘online learning’ is so much more than just streaming a webinar of a lecture, downloading PDFs and reading emails. Our goal has been to create a multi-faceted approach to education that doesn’t treat you like you’re just one of a hundred faces sitting in a massive lecture hall or behind a screen – you’re an OC student, and we want to see you succeed with flying colours.

In the last ten years alone, we’ve educated more than 450,000 students. Currently, we have around 25,000 active students. And we have some amazing and inspiring success stories.

When you study with OC, you’ll graduate with a nationally recognised qualification that’ll help you find work across Australia. Our nationally recognised courses are designed by vocational experts, and you’ll learn job-ready skills from industry specialists. That’s what Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses are all about – teaching you the practical, in-demand skills that employers are looking for in today’s job market.

Here’s a few key reasons why we think OC could be the right fit for you:
