What support does Open Colleges provide?

At Open Colleges, we’re committed to helping you get the most out of your learning. That is why we offer a range of support, to help you succeed at every stage of the process. So even though you may be studying online, you’re never alone, as help is at hand if you need it.

Below we outline each of our key support options, which include Student support, Learning support and Academic support.

Student Support

Our friendly Student Support team can help you with any non-academic matters. So, whether you need help with enrolment or need a hand logging into OpenSpace (your online campus), this is the team you should talk to.

How can the Student Support team help?

If you’re unsure whether the Student Support team are the right people to contact for your query, here are some of the many ways we can help you:

  • Assist you with your enrolment
  • Update your personal details
  • Provide updates on your course progress
  • Unlock new modules (where available)
  • Help you log in to OpenSpace
  • Contact your trainer
  • Give you information on how to submit assessments in OpenSpace
  • Follow up on submitted assessments
  • Explain what to do if you want to apply for recognition of prior learning or credit transfer
  • Explain what to do if you need to extend your course
  • Issue your record of assessment
  • Handle any cancellation requests

How can you contact the Student Support team?

You can contact the Student Support team in several ways:

  • Phone – Available from 9.00am - 5.00pm every Monday to Friday.
  • Live chat* – Available  9.00am - 5.00pm, everyday (when available).
  • Email – Drop the team an email. They’ll aim to get back to you within 2 business days.

All timings are in AEST.

* Live chat is currently not available for our students in OpenSpaceX

Learning Support

Our Learning Support team are here to help you with any non-academic challenges of online learning.

To ensure you get the best results, they’re here to help you from your enrolment, all the way through to graduation, providing you with a series of webinars and one-to-one phone calls when you need that additional support.

How can the Learning Support team help?

Here are some of the many ways our enthusiastic Learning Support team may be able to help you:

  • Get you started with your studies including onboarding
  • Support you in navigating OpenSpace
  • Share ways to fit your studies around your other commitments
  • Share tips to keep you on track
  • Provide study planning and study tips
  • Support ‘at risk’ students
  • Give advice on how to research online
  • Provide learning, literacy and numeracy support
  • Motivate and re-engage you if you’ve become inactive

How can you contact the Learning Support team?

The Learning Support team are contactable via phone between 9.00am – 5.00pm AEST from Monday to Friday. 

Trainers and Assessors

As well as delivering your training, providing feedback and marking your assessments, your Trainers and Assessors can provide you with ongoing academic support. So, if you need any help in relation to your course, its learning materials and your assessment, these are the people to contact.

How can your Trainers and Assessors help?

Your Trainers and Assessors can support you during your learning by:

  • Answering academic questions
  • Answering content and learning material related queries
  • Providing assessment feedback

How can you contact your Trainers and Assessors?

For students enrolled in OpenSpaceX, the Student Support will assist you with getting in contact with your Trainer and Assessors, so get in contact with them via phone or email.

For our other students, you will have direct access to your Trainers and Assessors through your OpenSpace message centre. They always try to respond to queries as soon as possible (within 2 business days). You can also arrange a 1-to-1 call.

If you need any additional help, you can also visit our forums and discussion boards on OpenSpace.
