Anna Hannouche is the Training Operations Manager for Education Support and has been with Open Colleges since 2014. Anna holds a Bachelor of Education/Arts majoring in Theology and History. Before Open Colleges, Anna was casual teaching at a VET school where her love for VET courses grew as she witnessed students develop practical skills to assist them in the workplace. Anna is passionate about Education and finds it rewarding to pass on her extensive knowledge to her team to support students in an Education Support role.
During her career, Cherryl has owned an RTO while implementing and gaining accreditation for a residential low care facility. She was employed by one of the largest RTOs in Australia to pioneer their Human Services courses in their Sydney campus. She became Program Manager in 2014 and advised on strategies to best operate the Human Services programs throughout 18 campuses. Today, Cherryl leads a team of passionate Trainers/Assessors to deliver best in class training for the Health, Community and Beauty Portfolio. Cherryl holds Diplomas in Business, Leadership and Management, Quality Auditing, Counselling, Health & Aged Care and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
Holding a Bachelor of Exercise Science & Rehabilitation degree, Peta started out her career as a qualified Exercise Physiologist. After living in London for a year, Peta wanted a new career challenge and transitioned into the VET sector in 2004 as a Trainer and Assessor and Learning Designer. Having worked with a number of smaller RTO’s in Compliance, Course Coordinator and General Management roles, Peta joined the Open Colleges team in 2016 as Program Manager for the Allied Health program and recently moved into the role of Training Operations Manager for the Animal Sciences team. Peta loves working alongside her dedicated team and seeing students achieving their learning and career goals.
Renju Jacob Philip is a graduate from University of New South Wales with a Masters in Engineering Science- Telecommunications. His passion for technical advances in the IT industry motivated him to be an IT Freelancer from his student days. His previous work experience as a software engineer at Accenture Services has strengthened his in-depth understanding of various aspects of the IT Industry. Renju’s desire to share his IT experiences and knowledge to others, has led him to be an IT trainer and assessor in the VET Industry. His other qualifications include Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Diploma of Software Development and Graduate Diploma of Management.
Robert has been with Open Colleges for 5 years, he has come from a Fitness industry background and had completed his studies in Sports Coaching and Business Administration. Roberts’ career pathway at Open Colleges saw him move from a trainer/Course Coodinator to a Program Manager in Fitness. Gathering years of experience working in a niche role he was given the opportunity to expand and apply his knowledge of Vocational Education and Training to the Early Childhood Education and Care program. Robert’s goal is to ensure students are provided the best quality experience in the Early Childhood Education and Care courses.
Originally from Scotland, Alex has been a Counsellor for 10 years. He worked for four years as a Drug and Alcohol Counsellor at one of Australia’s leading treatment centres. He has also worked for Beyond Blue as a Phone/Chat Counsellor supporting people dealing with anxiety and depression.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Applied Social Science in Counselling, Diploma of Community Service in Case Management, Certificate IV in Community Services, a Graduate Certificate of Gestalt Therapy and is currently finishing his fourth year Masters of Gestalt Therapy. Alex has a special interest in working with men and their relationships, family systems and eating issues.
Alex has a private practice and is looking forward to sharing his knowledge and experience with the students.
Amber has worked as a Veterinary Nurse for more than 14 years. She undertook the Veterinary Nursing Certificate with Tamworth TAFE while working within a busy mixed animal practice. Amber has also worked as a Pound Officer and spent some time employed as an Environmental Health Officer in a remote community where she worked alongside the RSPCA in Community Animal Health programs. Amber has been part of the VET sector for 6 years as a teacher of Animal Studies, Companion Animal Services and Equine Nursing with TAFE NSW and gained a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Amber has recently completed her Diploma of Veterinary Nursing General Practice.
Amy has worked as a veterinary nurse and taught puppy schools in busy general practices in regional Victoria. Whilst completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, she qualified with high distinctions receiving an award nomination for outstanding academic achievements. Discovering a passion for training, Amy gained her Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to take on a new career in the vocational education sector. Amy enjoys encouraging nurses to learn new skills, enjoy their work, and take pride in their profession. Amy is a compassionate nurse, spending time volunteering across Thailand and will continue to do more during her career.
Andriana has over 15 years of involvement in the make-up industry, and has studied makeup at Arts Makeup College. She managed to situate herself in multiple factions of the industry to great success starting her early career in television making up the faces of news readers at networks such as CBA-TV, SBS and ABC. She also spent the last decade working as an events makeup artist for well-known cosmetic brands such as Christian Dior and MAC. During this time, Andriana was able to hone her skills with the fashion world leading to work on many events such as Rosemount/Mercedes Australian Fashion Week, ARIA Awards, AFI Awards and the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. Today her extensive portfolio includes published work in magazines such as Cleo, Cosmopolitan, 2 Threads, Le Black Book, Harpers Bazaar and Yen.
Angie has worked in the accounting industry for over 16 years. She has worked with several public practice accounting firms, providing management accounting and taxation services, and business advice to many small and medium sized businesses. Angie has also been responsible for the development and delivery of training programs to her colleagues and clients. She enjoys teaching and her desire to share her accounting experience and knowledge with others has led her to being a Trainer and Assessor in the VET industry. Angie holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and a Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction, with a double-major in Accounting and E-Commerce.
Anthony is a licensed Real Estate Agent with 23 years’ experience in the industry. He has previously worked as a Sales Agent, Buyers’ Agent and Property Manager.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Diploma of Financial Services, Certificate IV in Property Services, Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
Anthony currently spends his time operating a boutique real estate and mortgage broking business as well as assessing students completing their Certificate IV in Property Services.
Bernard has more than 25 years of experience in tertiary education. He has worked as a lecturer at university and has been teaching and training, both ABE and VET. He also has experience with planning curriculums, providing PDs, supervising and managing people and projects. After completing his Bachelor in English, he finished a Master in English, Master of Philosophy and Ph.D. He also has post graduate qualifications in TESOL, higher education, career development, journalism and mass communication. Recently he completed a Certificate IV in Information Technology and a Certificate IV in TAE.
Caroline has over 10 years’ experience in the community service sector in a range of roles in youth work, disability and mental health. She has coordinated two government-funded programs and was a Project Manager for an advocacy service. Caroline also sat on a number of community networking committees and enjoyed seeing positive change in the sector.
Her formal qualifications include a Certificate IV in Disability Work, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and most recently an Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management.Caroline is looking forward to working with students and helping them to get started in this very rewarding sector.
Carolyn Beaumont BA (University of Sydney) is an editor of novels by Di Morrissey and Peter Watt and non-fiction by R.M. Williams and Quentin Dempster, as well as academic journals and textbooks. She founded a publishing company 20 years ago following a successful career as a TV, radio and print journalist, including as a researcher on The Michael Parkinson Show and assistant editor of the Sunday Telegraph. Carolyn has served as chairman, board of directors, licensee of a radio station Highland and broadcaster. She has taught journalism and general editing with the Open Colleges team for more than 20 years.
Catherine has been a veterinary nurse for over 30 years and has been involved in many areas of the industry and worked with many different species. Her first position in the industry was working with the Animal Welfare League as an animal attendant, where she enrolled in a course called Animal Care, today known as Animal Studies, and Veterinary Nursing.
Catherine’s career has included working at a variety of specialist hospitals, as well as Waratah Park, Abbott Animal Health and TAFE. She is also involved in the Greyhound Adoption Program.
Catherine Tumelty has been working in the Digital Marketing space for over 6 years, both in her former marketing role with a National Fitness Company as well as setting up and running many small online businesses of her own. She has a wealth of experience in setting up new businesses and promoting them in a way to ensure that they are a success from day one.
Catherine’s career has spanned many industries including HR, Hospitality, Education and Business Management. Catherine loves to combine her passion for education and the digital space by sharing her knowledge and experience with her students to ensure that they enjoy the Marketing industry as much as she does.
Charmaine has worked in early childhood education and care settings for 10 years with children from aged 0-5 years. Whilst working as an Early Childhood Teacher, she completed a Certificate III and Diploma in Children’s Services, and went on to complete a Bachelor of Education (Birth to 5 years).
Charmaine also gained a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to allow her to share her passion for early childhood education and care with others.
Chris Hosking is the Program Manager for Animal Care. Since 2004 he has had experience working with native and exotic invertebrates, fish, frogs, reptiles’ birds, and mammals. From 2008 to 2014 Chris coordinated the Australian Museum’s Live Exhibits where he undertook animal management, staff training and developed content about the live displays for the Museum’s programs. Chris remains a member of the Australian Museum’s Animal Care and Ethics Committee and a member of the Australasian Society of Zoo Keeping. Chris has a Bachelor of Arts from Flinders University and Certificate IV in Captive Animals.
Christine holds an Associate Diploma of Arts and Fashion from MSIT, Brisbane and has over 30 years of experience in the fashion industry. She thrives on sharing her skills and knowledge with students that want to work in exciting field of fashion. Her passion for education has allowed Christine to sustain a successful business as a freelance patternmaker and grader. She has worked with consulting designers, including industry-leading, “start-up” and small businesses designers. Christine’s skills allow her to work with her clients from the conceptualisation stage right through to manufacturing both locally and offshore.
Claire has over 15 years’ experience in Childcare and holds a Diploma of Early Child Education and Care. She recently completed her Certificate IV in Training and Assessment online with Open Colleges and understands the pressures of juggling family, full time work and online study. For the last six years she has enjoyed the life of a Family Day Care Educator, attending Bush Playgroups and library playgroups with the children in her care. Claire is a passionate advocate for Family Day Care and is looking forward to sharing her experience and knowledge with students.
Dace is a qualified educator with 25 years’ experience in face to face, blended and online delivery within the VET sector for Building Design, Building Construction and Interior Design. Since 1985, she is also the Director of Faculty of Design, a professional firm offering architectural design and construct projects together with interior design services.
Her expertise includes all aspects of residential design and construction, low rise commercial projects, project management, building compliance, brief analysis, ergonomics consultation, colour selection, styling, furniture and lighting advisor, sample board, stage set design, special events set-up and murals.
Damian has worked in the IT industry for over eight years in many different roles. Starting from desktop support, he progressed to network and systems engineering, software development and IT project management. He has worked for international organisations in both Timor-Leste and Papua New Guinea, while learning to fluently speak Tetun. His most recent position was IT Manager for a large multinational corporation. Damian’s qualifications include the Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology (Networks & Systems), TAE40110 Certificate IV Training and Assessment and Certificate II in Information Technology.
A licenced real estate, stock and station and business agent, as well as an accredited auctioneer, Daniel has over four decades experience working within the real estate industry, including owning and operating his own real estate business. Experienced in sales, property, management and leasing, Daniel holds a Diploma of Business (Real Estate Management), Certificate IV in Property Services (Real Estate) and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. An expert in the field, Daniel currently splits his time by providing consultancy advice to real estate businesses, as well as training and assessing up and coming real estate agents.
Julia graduated from the University of Sydney in 2002 and worked as a veterinarian on the south coast of NSW. In 2004 she completed a year long internship at the Animal Referral Hospital in Sydney. Here, she developed a passion for all things medical, emergency and soft tissue. She has lived in Coffs Harbour since 2005 practising as a small animal vet. In 2012 she become a part time trainer and assessor at TAFE and in 2014 began working with Open Colleges. Her most recent addition to the family is a RPSCA rescue kitten who is a fantastic personal assistant.
Dr Louisa Johnson graduated from the University of Melbourne Veterinary School in 2001 with first class Honours and the Payne Exhibition Prize for the highest marks in her final year. She has worked in various veterinary roles, including a canine blood bank, emergency clinic, rural and urban practice as well as overseas. Prior to becoming a vet, Louisa was employed as a veterinary nurse and now greatly enjoys being involved with Open Colleges, training and assessing veterinary nurses.
After graduating from The University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science with Honours, Dr Merrilyn Fitzgerald worked as a veterinarian and completed a post graduate course in equine medicine. Merrilyn has been a part time teacher for North Coast TAFE and has been involved in the delivery and assessment of various courses in animal studies and veterinary nursing. She has delivered presentations at several Australian Veterinary Association conferences and has written articles on horse reproductive health in equine magazines. She currently manages the equine reproduction unit for Pacific Vet Care.
Yvonne studied Veterinary Medicine at the University of Utrecht and graduated in 2000. After doing some volunteer work in Turkey, she moved to England in 2001 and worked in several small animal practices. In 2004 she emigrated to Australia and worked in general practice for 3 years. In 2007 Yvonne joined the VCS as an emergency vet. She achieved her MACVS in 2009 and then joined the team at SASH. Yvonne has always enjoyed teaching other veterinarians and nurses and therefore pursued her Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. She is looking forward to helping veterinary nurses achieve their goals.
Eliana has over 25 years of experience within the Early Childhood Education industry. She has successfully undertaken senior roles within Long-Day Childcare Centres and in Out of School Hours Care services, having served in Directorial roles for some 15 years.
Eliana is passionate about the industry and equally so about helping students reach their potential, whether they be an Early Childhood student or someone who is interested in becoming a part of the next generation of Early Childhood Education Professionals.
Erika works for the Western Australian Department of Education as a Primary School Teacher and has worked in both remote and metropolitan schools, even teaching abroad for several years. Erika has a wide range of teaching experience including early childhood education, primary and secondary schooling. Erika is passionate about inclusive education; she has worked as an Inclusion Teacher where she supported ESL students and those with learning difficulties and disabilities. She has been working in training since 2010.
Eve Czerniak is a Registered Nurse who has worked both in Australia and overseas in general nursing, as well as women’s and children’s health. She has experience working in aged care facilities, hospitals and as a school nurse and educator. Eve holds a bachelor degree in nursing, a Cert IV in Training and Assessment and a Cert IV in TESOL.
Fiona has extensive experience working in the dental industry, both in the city and remotely. She has worked in a variety of private practices and the government sector, including Dental Health Services and the Perth Dental Hospital.
Fiona has 5 years’ experience as a trainer and assessor with a Registered Training Organisation and is currently working with the Royal Flying Doctor Service Remote Area Dental Unit.
Fiona’s career has taken many twists over the past 30 years. Working in hotel management, public relations, event production and finally education, Fiona decided to follow her passion for animals by gaining a Certificate IV in Companion Animal Services. Now owning a dog training, grooming and pet care business and working as an in-house trainer/behaviourist at a Sydney veterinary hospital, Fiona is able to combine her ‘human’ training qualifications and experience with her passion for animals. Fiona is a qualified and accredited Delta positive dog trainer and an active member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) of Australia.
Fredro Harjanto has worked in the higher education sector and in VET sector in Sydney, California, Illinois and Jakarta. His qualifications include the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Advanced Diploma of Business, Advanced Diploma of Information Technology, and Advanced Diploma of Management. His professional experience spans information technology, science, investment, business management and sport. His recent IT roles include IT contractor/project manager for mobile application and website projects based in Australia, USA, and Indonesia.
George is a qualified Horticulturist who has gained practical experience working in retail nurseries, residential/commercial gardening as well as completing a 4-year Parks & Gardens apprenticeship with the Royal Botanic Gardens of Sydney.
Passionate about Horticulture & sharing his knowledge, George completed the Certificate IV in Training & Assessment before joining the Open Colleges team.
George continues to work in Horticulture Parks & Gardens and operates his own Horticultural business.
Georgina has over 25 years’ experience in Early Childhood Education.
Throughout her years, she has occupied a variety of roles, including University Supervisor, owner/operator of her own early childhood service and teaching the Certificate III and Diploma of Early Childhood with Open Colleges over the last 5 years.
As a tertiary qualified Early Childhood Educator, she is committed to delivering a high-quality service for children, families and staff. Her passions include inclusivity – particularly working with children with additional needs, and mentoring others about the value of the early years for young children.
Holly is an enthusiastic and dedicated professional with over 13 years' experience in business administration, account management, marketing and print. She has also been working within the education and training industry since 2013, in both a face-to-face and online capacity, and is passionate about the power of education.

Inneke has a number of different beauty related qualifications including SIB50110 Diploma of Beauty Therapy and ITEC Diplomas in Aetheticienne, Physiatrics, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Stone Therapy, Anatomy and Physiology and Body Massage.
Inneke has more than 20 years of global working experience in salons, spas, nail bars and departments stores, also managing salons and beauty schools. Inneke enjoys empowering students by sharing her skills and knowledge, with the goal to always prepare students to be industry ready.
Jacqui Brown has been in the real estate industry in Queensland for 16 years. Her specialty is selling residential homes in the inner city suburbs of Brisbane, but also has extensive experience as a Property Manager and Business Development Manager. Holding a full real estate license and member of the Real Estate Institute of QLD,
Jacqui is passionate about upholding professionalism within the real estate industry and seeks to improve the education standards for entry into the profession. Jacqui holds a Diploma of Property Services (Agency Management) and Diploma of Business and currently splits her time working with her key clients and training and assessing upcoming Real Estate Agents.
Jeffrey Halpin has been delivering training and assessment to the construction and WHS industries for over 10 years and been in the construction industry for nearly 40 years. He brings with him a wealth of experience covering all aspects of the construction industry including design, construction, energy rating and building compliance.
As a practising Building Contractor and Consultant, Jeffrey delivers the very highest quality standards to his clientele.
Jeffrey is tremendously honoured to be part of the Open Colleges team as a Trainer and Assessor. He feels privileged to have the opportunity to impart his experience and knowledge to the students.
Jessica has worked with a diverse range of children from birth up to 14 years of age across a wide range of services. Jessica’s traditional work has been supplemented with substantial experience as an Inclusion support worker for children with additional needs. After completing her Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, she decided to pass on her skills and knowledge to future educators. Jessica has just over 4 years hands on experience in both classroom facilitation and online learning in a Senior Training Role. Jessica believes that, as an educator, there are always areas in which to grow and learn more.
Jessica is a Diploma Qualified Beauty Therapist with over 16 years of industry experience and a passionate educator having worked in the Vocation Education and Training sector for the past 7 years.
Jessica has worked in various salon and spa settings and developed a love for helping clients reach their skin care goals. She enjoys sharing her industry knowledge and experiences with her students and helping them gain confidence in their abilities.
Jessica believes that "all beauty therapists are creative and nurturing people that have the magic touch to enable their clients’ to relax the mind, renew the body and revive the soul all in just one session.”
Jim Johnson has extensive experience in client management, portfolio, program and project management, and in developing, designing, writing, reviewing, validating, delivering and assessing project management professional, academic, higher education, and vocational learning programs.
He currently holds a Master’s Degree in Project Management, a Graduate Certificate in Management, a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching & Learning, Advanced Diploma of Project Management, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and is also a Certified Practicing Project Director and a Certified and Registered AIPM RegPM project management professional competence assessor.
Jodie began her career as a Personal Care Assistant, working in numerous nursing homes, before becoming an Enrolled Nurse. While she enjoyed working in the surgical and medical side of nursing, Jodie’s goal was to teach students and return to the aged care sector.
As technology has evolved, Jodie has focused more on online education. As she herself is currently studying online, she understands the trials, tribulations, occasional frustrations, and great outcomes that can be achieved. Jodie has also taught in classrooms for the past 10 years and watched the aged care industry change for the better.
As a trainer in our Certificate II in Horticulture and Home Gardener courses, Julie will share her green thumb, knowledge of plants and her extensive nursery experience with you. She currently runs a wholesale nursery and also maintains the grounds for an historic property. Julie has also taught Horticulture previously for Richmond TAFE, and her qualifications include a Bachelor of Horticultural Science from UWS, an Advanced Certificate in Urban Horticulture and a Graduate Diploma in Adult Vocational Education.
Justin has 25 years’ experience in the IT industry mainly as a web based application developer and runs his own company which has developed more than a 100 web applications, database driven web sites, multimedia applications and semi connected desktop applications.
Justin is a prominent speaker and advocate of IoT (Internet of things) and is also the founder and organiser of IoT Sydney. Justin is also a mentor, V.P. Incubator and contributor to several projects at the ASF (Apache Software Foundation).
Justine is a graphic designer and illustrator with 17 years’ experience. She holds a Diploma of Arts (Illustration), as well as a Diploma of Arts (Graphic Art) and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
Passionate about education, Justine enjoys working in the industry and welcomes the opportunity to assist students to find their educational pathways and succeed in their elected vocation.
Katherine has been working in tourism for 16 years and has extensive experience across many sectors of the industry including reservations, business development, operations, product and general management.
Currently Katherine works as a Product Manager at Adventure World Travel and is responsible for product development, contracting and training of staff. Prior to joining Open Colleges, Katherine also held a position as a Tourism Trainer and Assessor where she was responsible for delivering face-to-face learning to international students.
Katherine has a Diploma in Tourism and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
As an independent interior designer Kathryn’s studio covers interior design, colour concepts, decoration, product sourcing and styling. Passionate about using contemporary, independent and emerging designers, she loves to create spaces that are classic and aesthetically beautiful yet are relaxed and easy to live in.
For Kathryn, working as an interior designer is very much a collaborative process. Moving into other design areas including theatre production, set design and shop-front window design gives her a creative outlet to explore beyond the traditional interior. Kathryn is a Member of the Design Institute of Australia and Justice of the Peace (NSW).
Katie Beer is passionate about the event industry, bringing firsthand knowledge and over 10 years of experience. She has operated across many facets of the industry, including sales and event management, at two of Sydney’s leading venues. She also had a role within in-house corporate event management with tour company, Scenic. Her current role as project manager for Arinex Events sees her servicing client events end-to-end, overseeing incentives and rewards programs, special events, corporate events and conferences. Katie has a passion for the travel industry and has been lucky enough to have managed events in destinations such as Canada, Vietnam and Cambodia.
Kimberly has over 11 years’ experience in training and assessment in tertiary and vocational education and training institutes. She has also run her own public accounting and tax practice for over two years, after 10 years of working in tax and accounting field. Kimberly holds a Masters of Business Administration majoring in Professional Accounting and is a Certified Professional Accountant with a passion for teaching.
Kristie has over 10 years’ experience working in salons and day spas combined. She is a highly trained therapist and is motivated by her love for the business. She moved into Education where she can pass on her knowledge to students.
As a trainer Kristie is approachable and patient which makes her classroom and online environment a fun place to relax and learn treatments. She believes Beauty is an ever-evolving industry that will never go out of fashion, and it is important to teach rising therapists or technicians, new and innovative techniques. Tanning, waxing, facials and body massage are Kristie’s favourite treatments to teach and perform in the salon.
After seven years of veterinary nursing, Lauri changed her focus to the vocational training sector. She decided to follow her passion for training and educating up and coming veterinary nurses and animal carers. Lauri holds a variety of qualifications including a Cert II and III in Animal Studies, Cert III and IV in Companion Animal Services, Cert IV and Dip (ECC) in Veterinary Nursing, Cert IV in TAE and Diplomas in Vocational Education and Training, Training Design and Development, Business Admin, Management and Business.?
Levinia is an accounting professional with over 10 years of commercial and public practice experience. She possesses strong understanding of all aspects of accounting and has had the opportunity to work across various industries including manufacturing, mining, hospitality and tourism and not for profit sectors in Australia and New Zealand. She has significant experience in the implementation and integration of Accounting Information Systems.
Levinia holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (Accounting), a Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. She is a member of the Institute of Public Accountants, Institute of Financial Accountants and the Australian College of Educators.
Linda has worked in the Vocational Education and Training and Counselling industry for the past 18 years, where she has worked as a TAFE teacher, Trainer & Assessor, and a Counsellor. Along with her Bachelor of Adult Education and Diploma of Counselling, she has comprehensive experience in training and counselling students through academic and personal challenges, to motivate and empower them to achieve their goals.
Linda runs her own private counselling practice with a special interest in working with people experiencing trauma, grief, loss and relationship issues. Currently, Linda is completing her Master of Counselling with majors in Trauma and Relationships.
Lisa is a Speech Pathologist with over 15 years’ experience working across Australia and the UK. She has worked closely with other health professionals and within community, school and hospital settings. Lisa also holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and Masters in Community Development.
Lisa is passionate about supporting people with communication difficulties to have a voice and be included within their communities.
Maria is an IT professional with experience in web applications programming and database design, IT training and online course development. She has worked for major organisations such as Oracle Corporation and the NSW Department of Education and Training, and has participated in projects for major clients including the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. She also provides IT consultancy to small businesses.
Maria holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, a Bachelor in Information Technology and a Master of Information Systems. Her current interests are the latest web development trends, social media marketing and open source applications communities and contribution.
Martin has worked in the real estate industry for over 20 years.
He brings a wealth of experience in all aspects of real estate, as both a licenced Estate Agent and qualified Valuer. As the holder of a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, a Bachelor of Business in Property and a Diploma in Project Management, his experience covers both the private and government sectors.
Martin has operated his own real estate business and worked as a Property Manager for commercial, retail and state government. He is a dedicated Trainer who is eager to pass on his skill and knowledge.
Mary is a practising Nutritionist and Herbalist working in a private clinic. Mary has over 10 years of experience working in private clinics and facilitating nutrition and healthy cooking workshops for both adults and children.
Mary is working towards her Masters of Public Health Nutrition. She has a keen interest in how nutrition can support health and wellbeing. Mary is looking forward to expanding beyond private practice to include the new public health modality and to work on a larger scale within the health promotion field.
Mary has also assisted in developing course materials and reviewing assessments used at Open Colleges.
Maryanne is a registered Occupational Therapist, with over 30 years’ experience. She has worked in many settings, including hospitals, outpatient departments, schools and community programs.
She now works as a private practitioner as well as an educator. Maryanne contributes to the undergraduate Occupational Therapy program at the University of Newcastle. She is also a Problem Based Learning Facilitator with the School of Medicine.
An experienced Trainer and Assessor, Maryanne enjoys her role as an Assessor with Open Colleges.
Masoud Tymouri, our business, human resources, management and occupational health and safety trainer, is highly experienced in training and assessing both local and international students. The expertise that Masoud has developed during 18-plus years of practical experience is supported by a lengthy list of qualifications. He has successfully completed a Master's of Leadership & Management in Education, Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Studies, Bachelor's of Business, Advanced Diploma of Management, Advanced Diploma of Management (Human Resources), Diploma of Occupational Health & Safety and Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment. Masoud brings all his knowledge and experience to his training role at Open Colleges, and provides every support to his students throughout their learning experience.
Matthew has been employed within the fitness industry and education sector for 6 years as a personal trainer and as a PDHPE teacher/Trainer & Assessor for Fitness and Sport & Recreation. As a personal trainer, Matthew has worked for a number or gyms across Sydney and has run an independent personal training business. Matthew’s passion for learning about the body continued into his university years, where his primary focus was Exercise Science (Bachelor) and Secondary Education (Diploma). Matthew also holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Pool lifeguard Certification, Certificate III in Fitness and was a sponsored fitness model in the under 30 Australian National Bodybuilding (ANB) Nationals competition in Sydney 2012.
Mathew has almost 30 years’ experience in education teaching a plethora of subjects from primary school to university and back again. In all he would have taught well over 150 different subjects in range of courses and programs. Over time, Mathew has developed levels of expertise in mainstream, indigenous and online education, having taught in government and non-government institutions across three states. He has held leadership positions of Assistant Principal and Acting Principal, Leading Vocational Teacher and Executive Teacher 2. Mathew holds a range of qualifications that include a master’s degree in Indigenous studies, a graduate diploma of education, an undergraduate degree, a diploma and several certificates including qualifications in training and assessing.
Meghann is a surgical, anaesthesia and critical care veterinary nurse with 18 years’ experience at various specialist hospitals across Sydney. Being a mature age, online tertiary student herself, she has always been passionate about adult education, and is very excited to have joined the education sector. Her in-depth experience within the veterinary industry enables her to create and maintain relationships with animal-based organisations across Australia. She enjoys challenging herself mentally and physically, and is currently studying a Bachelor of Science majoring in Genetics and Biotechnology.
Melissa has over seven years’ experience within the community services sector as a Case Manager, as well as a Mental Health Nurse in acute care settings. She is currently completing a Bachelors of Applied Social Science to accompany her other vocational qualifications within the field of community services, mental health and AOD. Melissa has over five years of experience within the VET sector, developing and providing training to future community service workers. She is passionate about mental health and AOD and has an enormous passion for the training sector.
Michelle is a Social Media Marketing Guru with over 6 years’ experience in Social Media Management, Digital Marketing and Online Communications. She also has a strong background in digital engagement, content creation and creative design. Michelle currently works across a range of industries including sports fitness, not-for-profit, travel, professional services, industrial, construction, agriculture and chemistry.
Michelle completed a Bachelor of Communications (Public Relations) and holds a Cert IV in Training and Assessment.
Michelle has been a Registered Nurse for 21 years at several aged care facilities and has also worked in management for the past decade. Passionate about aged care and ensuring that staff enjoy a high standard of training and education, Michelle’s specialised skills include infection control, immunisation, palliative care and person-centred care.
Michelle’s qualifications include a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, a Diploma in Health Science (Nursing), a Certificate III in Health Service Assistance, a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training, a Certificate of Attainment Department of Palliative Care RN Education, a Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management) and a Diploma of Community Services.
Natalie is a Sydney based speech pathologist. She has worked with children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities in a number of non-government and government organisations. Natalie is considered one of the few expert adult mental health specialists in Australia and has been fortunate to meet with national leaders to advocate for this area. Natalie is also highly passionate and interested in clinical teaching, and in 2015 will complete her Masters Research in Clinical Education. Natalie is passionate about clinical education and was awarded the title of clinical associate lecturer by the University of Sydney.
Opilla has been working in the Early Childhood Industry for 23 years working in variety of services in both the Illawarra and Sydney including setting up new services, family grouped and aged grouped centres. She has worked with all age groups preferring to work with the babies and toddlers, although these age groups are very challenging. She found them the most rewarding seeing them learn and develop forming bonds and attachment with their peers and educators.
Throughout these years, Opilla has seen many changes, beliefs and theories on how children learn and develop throughout their lives she has experience in being room leader in all rooms, 2IC, working with and being a part of projects with academics from Macquarie University throughout her working life. In 2014 she decided to pass on her passion and love of the industry, gaining her Certificate IV in assessment and training and began teaching Certificate III and Diploma in Children Services to International students and domestic students.
Paul is a dedicated educator with over 11 years’ experience in customer engagement, owns a small photography business, and has 3 years in an education capacity and 4 years within the business administration industry. With a drive to learn and share, he moved into adult learning in 2016 with Open Colleges and started within the Student Services division. Paul’s experience spans from various industries - retail, hospitality, education and the arts.
Paul holds a Bachelor’s of Teaching and a Bachelor’s of Arts dual Degree, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and is an avid Photography enthusiast with a passion for educating people from all walks of life.
Peter Fernando first considered the fascinating opportunities offered by the tourism and travel industry when he took a position as a sales and marketing executive for the Hilton international hotel chain.
Fifteen years' of travelling and working in the industry have taken Peter to Dubai, Sri Lanka, Singapore and now to Australia. He has also participated in study exchange programs at the Washington State University in the USA, and has a Bachelor of Business & Hospitality (Hons.) and Master of Hospitality & Tourism. Peter has also been awarded a Diploma of Business Management and is particularly knowledgeable about Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE) services, as well as inbound tour groups.

Peter McClatchey has spent 23 years as a chartered accountant for PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has specialised in the financial services industry, providing accounting, audit and consulting services to a wide variety of industry leading superannuation, funds management and insurance clients. He has also been heavily involved in the development and delivery of accounting and audit training programs for all levels of staff. He has lived and worked in a variety of countries, including Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, India and Fiji, providing accounting and audit services.
Since receiving his Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Phil has held a number of specialist posts in both hospital and community settings, including roles in pediatrics and working with diabetics. He has also worked as a chiropractic assistant in Sydney’s CBD for five years, a role which saw him perform exercise rehabilitation sessions for clients.
Also qualified in sports/remedial massage and personal fitness training, Phil has 20 years fitness industry experience including personal training, facility management and sales.
As an educator, Phil has over six years’ experience teaching a range of face-to-face and online courses across anatomy and physiology, Certificate III and IV in Fitness and the Diploma of Fitness.
Rebecca has worked in management accounting, training and educational product development roles over the last 8 years. She has provided bookkeeping and management accounting services to small to medium size businesses and developed and audited VET learning material and assessments.
Further to Rebecca’s accounting and vocational and education experience, she holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, a Diploma of Business and a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Accounting.
Rebecca has been working in the hospitality industry for 17 years in frontline service delivery as well as management roles. Rebecca has eight years of experience as a lecturer in hospitality. She holds a Diploma of Hospitality, Hospitality Certificate III (Food and Beverage) and (Commercial Cookery), Responsible Management of License Venues (RMLV), as well as a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment. Rebecca’s passion for hospitality and food extends beyond the workplace. She has entered culinary competitions and has been awarded both gold and bronze awards from Salonculinaire and a silver medal in the Smithton Seafood Competition.
Rob has worked in the disability sector for more than 30 years. He has worked in both face-to-face roles supporting clients with high support needs in residential and community-based settings and in a variety of management roles for government and non-government organisations.
Rob originally trained as a Registered Mental Retardation Nurse at in Sydney and attained his Certificate IV in Training and Assessing. He recently completed his Diploma of Disability and Certificate IV in Frontline Management.
Rob is passionate about assisting others to learn and develop their skills and supporting people with a disability to achieve their goals and to lead a more inclusive life.
Robert is an award-winning author and editor of fiction and non-fiction, having published six books, over 100 stories and a stage play. His awards include The Black Dog Award and the Aurealis Award for best short science fiction story in Australia for 2011 and runner-up in the Pride of Australia medal for his work with new writers. He previously worked as a literary agent and publisher, producing 25 titles to date, and is currently working on the next title. Robert is a very dedicated trainer with Open Colleges, having worked with the organisation for over 12 years.
Robyn has principally worked as a Veterinary Nurse and as a Receptionist for 23 years. She undertook the Veterinary Nursing Certificate with Tamworth TAFE while working at the South Tamworth Animal Hospital Referral practice. Robyn worked at the Coffs Harbour Veterinary Hospital, and the Koala Hospital, moving further to the mid-north coast to the Macksville Veterinary Clinic. Throughout her working life, Robyn has undertaken numerous correspondence courses related to various disciplines
Ronnie began working with young people at an outdoor education centre in 2000. This is where he found his passion for working with young people. From here he began working in OOHC, gaining a diploma of Youth Work and also the experience of managing four residential settings. In 2008, Ronnie moved to Australia to expand his career as a Youth Worker. Ronnie worked in case management before coordinating a program designed to support young people disengaged from education. Since moving to Australia, through on-line learning Ronnie has gained a Diploma of Counselling, a Certificate VI in Training and Assessing and Bachelor’s Degree of Social Science.
Rosalie Pellew has over 30 years' experience in customer engagement; workplace training and assessment; facilitating adult education; leading and coaching customer contact teams; and supporting on-line learning students.
Rosalie’s experience spans various industries from retail and telecommunication to food production. Rosalie has been in vocational education for the past 10 years.
Pursuing her passion for adult education, Rosalie refocused into student services to assist students through their learning journey. She holds a Diploma in Teaching, Diploma in Adult Education, Certificate IV in Information Technology (Website Production) and a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.
Rosan Lal has worked in the Community Services sector for over 20 years. His experience includes working with international and local volunteers and students in numerous developing countries and has developed many innovative community services projects. In addition, Rosan has worked in the Disability sector. He holds a Diploma of Community Services, Diploma of Business and Leadership, Certificate IV Training and Assessment and is completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Project Management.
Currently Rosan is a Director of ACATA Australia, a not-for profit organisation that partners with Australian colleges and universities to deliver effective community services projects focusing on social development and change.
Ruchi is a highly organised, motivated and ambitious Trainer. She has been a Trainer and Assessor of accounting and bookkeeping courses since 2011, whilst continuing to work as an Accountant. Over the past seven years, she has helped many students through to graduation and given them encouragement and knowledge to pursue their goals. She is passionate about using her industry knowledge to create positive learning experiences for all students. Ruchi holds a Masters of Commerce and a Masters of Business Administration, a Diploma of Business, Certificate IVs in Bookkeeping, Accounting and Training and Assessment, as well as a BAS Agent Registration Skill Set qualification.
Sanet started her career when she studied abroad for a Bachelor and Honors degrees in Social Work. She has extensive experience and skills in working with people in different fields. Her passion is working with people with disabilities. She has trained and supervised students from different cultures in their work placement here and abroad for the last 25 years.
Sanet is registered as a member with Australian Association of Social Workers, National Disability Services and Work cover. Sanet has received an Australian award for best customer/client services. Her aim is to continuously develop professionally and personally.
Sarah is a Photographer and Creative Content Producer. With over 10 years’ experience in design education and over 15 years’ experience with still and moving image creation and production, she enjoys being challenged with new projects, collaborating with other creatives and pushing herself to learn new skills in order to further develop and enrich both her creative and teaching practice.
For the past 10 years, Sarah has led a team of training specialists. She has also curated, exhibited and produced shows for key industry and cultural events, such Parramatta Laneways Festival and Head On Photo Festival.
Sarah holds a Bachelor Degree in Visual Communication, majoring in Photography and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
Sarah has passionately worked in the training and assessment sector for almost 10 years, specialising in adult education for international students, new migrants and refugees. She holds a double degree in Bachelor of Arts (Social & Community Studies) and a Bachelor of Science (Nutrition). She presently delivers programs in the South Australian community as a Learning and Development Consultant, focusing on supporting individuals working through mental ill-health experiences and their recovery.
Sarah also works for ACATA Trust Fiji, as their Senior Community Health Education Officer (Nutritionist). Sarah has experience teaching around the world and has recently returned from living and volunteering in Fiji with the Australian Red Cross for some time.
Sarah has 8 years of diverse work experience, from working in small studios and running her own bootcamp business to spending over 5 years in a commercial gym specialising in women’s weight loss, muscle gain and managing the team of 30+ Personal Trainers. Under Sarah’s leadership, the team broke a record and delivered over 3000 sessions in November ’17.
Apart from her involvement in team sports like soccer and Gaelic, Sarah has done Half Marathons, Tough Mudder and the INBA bikini show in 2016.

Simon a practiced vocational education and training professional, with over 12 years’ of leadership and management experience within vocational education and RTO settings. This includes all levels of operations and management, within a regulated learning environment, specialising in learning development, quality, compliance and governance as well as the facilitation of training and assessment.
His experience includes leading the development of accredited training materials and assessment tools, project management and risk assessment, the development and implementation of policy frameworks and the facilitation of accredited and non-accredited training programs.
Suellen has a broad range of experience in both auditing and accounting, including managing her own business and co-authoring two accounting text books in introductory accounting and financial accounting.
Suellen has been in education for over 30 years, working with students nationally and internationally. Currently, she is self-employed as Treasurer of her Body Corporate and is actively involved in the accounting process of her building management.
Susan is a passionate educator with a specialty in Language, Literacy and Numeracy and a strong supporter of life-long learning. She has extensive experience in the Learning Support field having worked from Kindergarten through to teaching foundation skills in VET and English as a Second Language to adults at university level. Susan’s professional qualifications include Certificate III in Education Support, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Bachelor of Adult Education in Language, Literacy and Numeracy and Master of Applied Linguistics and TESOL.
Suzanne has been in the beauty and spa industry for over 20 years and brings a strong knowledge in both Beauty and Spa operation and Beauty Therapy Education. She has extensive experience which includes working with leading skincare brands and living and working in Australia’s luxury resort and spa destinations.
Suzanne holds both national and international beauty therapy qualifications including ITEC Diploma of Beauty Specialist, ITEC Diploma of Microdermabrasion, CIDESCO Diploma of Beauty, CIDESCO Diploma of Spa and SIB50110 Diploma of Beauty Therapy.
Suzanne loves to draw on her industry experience and has a strong passion for setting a high standard for successful beauty and spa graduates.
Tanya has many years of experience working in the airline industry through her role at World Aviation Systems. The organisation represents various airlines in Sydney including Air Tahiti Nui and Hawaiian Airlines. She has extensive knowledge of sales, marketing, reservations and the general business operations of an airline. Through her role at World Aviation she travelled extensively and gained knowledge on various destinations first hand. Tanya has been teaching in tourism for the past four years and holds a Diploma of Tourism, Certificate IV in Tourism, Certificate III and Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.
Timothy Naraiyanansamy has been efficient in managing a team of people who deliver digital marketing campaigns tailored to organisational needs, in preparing strategies to bring in the required return on investment. He has been working with companies who are after possible marketing solutions to achieve future success. This includes being involved with tasks focusing on Social Media, Website Optimisation, SEO, Web Analytics, eDM and PPC campaigns.
He has also been involved with international business which includes working closely with customs and freight forwarders in the areas of contracts, clearance and marketing of their products.
Timothy has had over 10 years experience in the VET industry, which has helped him to advance his organisational, communication, leadership skills, attention to detail and a range of services relating to instructional design and e-learning development.
Travis has worked in the Community Services Sector for over 20 years. He started in the Disabilities Sector then went on to work at Blacktown Youth Services Association as a Youth Development Officer. Subsequently, Travis worked at Ku-Ring-Gai Council as the Youth Services Coordinator then returned to Blacktown Youth Services as the Service Provision Manager.
Travis has more recently worked with Family and Community Services (NSW) as a Child Protection Caseworker, he has also had comprehensive experience working as a Youth Justice Conference Convenor with The Department of Juvenile Justice.
Currently Travis works for several organisations and as a Sole Trader in the area of Dispute Resolution. He is also the Vice President of Radio Blue Mountains 89.1, a Community Radio Station and runs his own Radio Program. Travis also facilitates consultations for Non-Government Organisations in the areas of Strategic Planning and Compliance.
Tricia has been involved in the childcare industry for the past 26 years and has extensive experience working in a range of different early childhood education and care settings including Long Day Care, both private and corporate, as a Director and Approved Provider, Family Day Care as support Coordinator and Early Childhood consultant and OOSH/OSHC services as a Coordinator and Compliance Officer and more recently as a Regional manager.
Passionate about sharing her knowledge, skills and abilities, Tricia has spent the past 9 years, fulfilling roles with Tafe and other RTO’s, to support students studying Certificate III and the Diploma of ECEC, in both SA and NSW.
Tricia holds an Advanced Diploma of Children’s Services and a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.
Vaishnavi has been working in the industry as a Physiotherapist for over 8 years and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) from the University of Sydney. She has been exposed to a variety of areas of Physiotherapy having held positions as a Physiotherapist in Hospital setting, Private Practice setting, Aged Care setting and Return to Work.
She brings a wide range of experience having worked in senior roles as a Physiotherapist and Manager working together with Junior Physiotherapists and Allied Health Assistants; providing them with training and mentoring. Vaishnavi is passionate about facilitating students to reach their career goals.
Victoria has had many years in early childhood education. She holds a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and near completion of Bachelor of Education (Birth to Five Years).
Victoria is passionate about early childhood education and volunteers regularly assisting children living on the margins with education programmes and support.
Victoria commenced her vet nursing career as a receptionist in an Eastern Suburbs clinic of Sydney where she became a veterinary nurse and covered medicine, surgery, grooming, practice management and animal attending. Prior to commencing at Open Colleges as a workplace assessor she was employed as an emergency and critical care nurse with a 24-hour specialist practice in Sydney and worked in emergency, dermatology, surgery, oncology, ophthalmology and medicine. She holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and is a member of the Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia.
With nearly 30 years’ experience in the residential building industry, Vince started his career working as a scheduler for one of the top builders of his time. As his career progressed he worked for some of Western Australia’s premier builders in estimating, supervising and management roles until he established his own business.
Initially starting out in residential homes and renovations he was able to become a registered builder in 2005. At this point he changed direction to focus on unit developments and grew his business by creating a strong team of up to 10 people. Vince believes in leading from the front to develop high achieving teams to drive a business to success.
Having gathered a wealth of knowledge in a variety of roles in the building industry, Vince has now chosen to pass on that knowledge to others to help them develop their careers in the industry.
Wendy has worked in tertiary education in the VET sector for over 14 years teaching web design, animation and design. In between teaching she works on a freelance basis.
She is currently studying a Masters in Digital Media and has also studied web technologies, e-Learning, psychology and registered nursing.
Wendy enjoys working with people and is passionate about teaching (and learning).
With over 20 years of experience in the fashion Industry, Yvonne utilises her skills and knowledge to be an effective trainer and assessor. She excels at patternmaking, grading and garment construction. Yvonne has extensive experience in consulting to industry professionals, and taking a design from sketch to production. She works as a Freelance Patternmaker/Grader for many clients including major corporate wear labels, and small start up designer labels in Australia.
