Hunter Institute of TAFE

Hunter Institute of TAFE, previously known as the Hunter Institute of Technology, is one of 10 Institutes in NSW providing Technical and Further Education (TAFE) courses. It is one of the largest regional vocational education and training providers across Australia and attracts approximately 60,000 students every year.

The Institute runs over 450 courses through its 15 campuses, which are spread across the Central Coast and Hunter areas of New South Wales. These include Belmont, Cessnock, Glendale, Gosford, Hamilton, Hunter Street, Kurri Kurri, Maitland, Muswellbrook, Ourimbah, Scone, Singleton, Tomaree and Wyong, with its main campus at Tighes Hill in Newcastle.

As well as these physical locations, students can also learn through Hunter TAFE online, a virtual college which provides 20 different courses.

Open Colleges is not affiliated with Hunter Institute of TAFE. This page is an information page only.

Open Colleges has a partnership with North Coast TAFE to deliver a series of TAFE courses in an online format.

Studying online vs. studying on campus

If you do not wish to study on campus, or if you are located in an area with limited or no access to TAFE Courses, you may wish to consider online study. With Open Colleges’ unique model – you can study a select number of TAFE courses with Open Colleges’ trademark learning benefits:

  • Supportive: Our dedicated team of student support staff are on hand to help you achieve your goals from start to finish.
  • Affordable: Choose a payment method that suits your needs: monthly, fortnightly or weekly payment plans.
  • Flexible: Study when you can, no due dates, no start times. Structure your study around your current commitments.
