According to the Australian Government Job Outlook, the demand for other technicians and trades workers which include Interior Decorators grew very strongly over the last 5 years. This demand is expected to continue to grow by over 10% from 2018 to 2023,  which will create new opportunities for Open Colleges’ graduates

This course is a perfect entry point into interior design and decoration for people with no experience and who want to start a career in the industry.

This qualification is also perfect if you have been working in the industry for a while and need a way to formalise your experience and take the next step in your career, or want to start your own interior design or decoration consultancy.

If you are an existing worker or have experience in the related industry, please inform our enrolment consultants during your enrolment conversation. You may be eligible to enrol as an existing worker and complete your studies faster. Please note - limitations do apply.

What you will learn

  • You will learn how to use colour, space and furnishings to create inspired interiors. You’ll also gain the skills to produce drawings to communicate your ideas to clients.
  • The course will introduce you to architectural styles and movements, and will teach you how to research and recommend furniture, accessories, soft furnishings, hard materials and finishes.
  • During your studies you will also identify materials, construction techniques and methods used in building interiors.
  • If you’re hoping to start your own interior decoration consultancy, this course will give you the skills to monitor and manage small business operations.

Zaid Kilani
Zaid started working in the Interior Design field for an elite custom furniture company, focusing on 3D modelling in furniture and interior design for both commercial and residential projects. Zaid holds a Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration, along with a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
