This scholarship is open to Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students who are commencing a Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma level course with Open Colleges.
Scholarship value is for the full course fees.

  • Eligibility criteria

Open to applicants of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent who meet the entry requirements of the agreed course.

Students must commence their studies within 3 months of the date they accept the scholarship.

 

  • Background

This scholarship is being offered in memory of our dear friend and colleague, Milton Smith. His adventurous spirit and determination to live life to its fullest meant that he made the most of every opportunity. We hope recipients of this scholarship will be inspired to do the same.

 

4 scholarships available per calendar year

  • 1 within Business, Finance and Technology
  • 1 within Animal Science, Design and Trades 
  • 1 within Education 
  • 1 within Health, Community and Beauty 

 

  • Application dates

Applications open:        16 April 2018

Applications close:        31 July 2018

 

  • Selection criteria

The scholarship will be awarded based on:

A 1-page personal statement that describes:

  1. why you are the right person to receive the scholarship and what it means to you
  2. future career goals
  3. reasons for your choice of course and how it is linked to your future career

The scholarship recipient will be selected by a panel of Open Colleges staff, including the Training Operation Managers of the chosen courses.

 

  • Payment

The full cost of the course will be covered when the recipient accepts the scholarship.

 

  • Termination

The scholarship shall be terminated if recipient:

  1. accepts any other scholarship of equal or higher value
  2. is unable to fulfill the entry requirements of the agreed course
  3. withdraws from the agreed course
