About the position
The Workplace Assessor is a key educational position within Open Colleges. The Workplace Assessor ensures the effective delivery of Structured Workplace Learning and Workplace Assessment and is responsible for:
- Inducting and supporting Workplace Supervisors
- Conducting workplace assessments in locations across Australia
- Providing high quality and timely feedback to students on their performance
- Participating in educational activities of the program area
In this role, you will undertake the following core functions:
- Induct and support Workplace Supervisors
- To conduct face to face workplace observations for students who are undertaking Structured Workplace Learning
- Undertake and grade both theory and workplace assessments within Education Service Standards utilising both online and face to face methods
- Conduct assessment interviews with the Workplace Supervisor and learner
- Provide constructive feedback to learners on their performance within quality guidelines
- Complete the necessary Workplace Observation Tool documentation
- Participate in educational activities, as per availability, including assessment validation and course improvements and reviews
- Complete Professional Development requirements in line with an Annual Professional Development Plan
- Facilitate Skill Development Workshops (if applicable)
- Contribute to the review of workplace processes and documentation
To be successful in this role, you will have the following key attributes and skills:
- Current industry skills in course area - worked in elderly people, people with disabilities and leisure and health
- Assessing competence in a workplace context
- Willingness to travel
- Strong student (customer) service ethos
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Time management skills
- Ability to confidently use technology and systems
- Conducting face to face assessment within the course area
- Current professional experience in the course
- Student support or customer service related field
- Engaging or working with workplace employers to deliver assessment outcomes
Tertiary qualifications including:
- Relevant qualification in course area - Minimum SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness or SIS50215 Diploma of Fitness
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (TAE40110/TAE40116)
Throughout this role, you will need to remain up-to-date with:
- Latest industry practice in the areas and units that you assess
- Developments in the vocational education and training sector
- Developments in teaching, learning and assessment in an online learning environment
