About the Role

Open Colleges is seeking to appoint a passionate Front-End Developer with experience in responsive rich front-end web development and a passion for learning and innovate. Any fast-paced agency or startup experience is a huge plus.

Your core functions:

The Front-End Developer works closely with platform development teams, Product managers and Learning Designers to deliver a modern, responsive online UX for our learners, including:

  • Contribute to the design of a scalable, responsive and robust architectures
  • Drive the strategic direction of front end development
  • Proactively drive innovation with new ideas and options available by emerging technologies
  • Actively mentoring and developing front end developers
  • Facilitate smooth delivery of product front ends
  • Write clean, well-structured, documented code
  • Ensuring the student experience is seamless across desktop, mobile and tablet devices

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working as part of an agile development team

Essential Technical skills:

  • Minimum 3+ years of responsive web development
  • Experience with one or more modern web MVC frameworks (Angular, React, Vue)
  • Understanding of JavaScript, HTML 5, CSS3
  • Experience managing CSS with either SASS or LESS
  • Strong Experience writing Unit and Web Tests on one or more test frameworks (Jasmine, Karma, Mocha, Selenium)
  • Experience with build tools (Webpack)
  • Good code refactoring skills and strong foundation on object-oriented programing.

Desirable Technical Skills:

  • Experience with Drupal/CMS
  • Experience with PHP/MySQL
  • Experience building backend REST APIs.
  • Experience with one or more modern web MVC frameworks
  • Experience with Event-Driven Architecture


  • Relevant qualifications in Information Technology
