Course Description

The BSBSS00105 Human Resources Foundations Skill Set will ensure your skills and knowledge are up to current industry standards. Use your existing skills and knowledge to obtain this accredited Skill Set, which can also be used as a pathway to the BSB50320 Diploma of Human Resources Management.

  • This Human Resources Foundations Skill Set will kickstart your knowledge and skills in some key human resources areas like recruitment, performance management and employee relations.
  • If you want to study the BSB50320 Diploma of Human Resources Management, this Skill Set will give you the pre-requisite prior study requirements if you don’t have the necessary work experience for enrolment.
  • It is also a great introduction into the BSB40420 Certificate IV in Human Resources, giving you 4 units of competency towards that course.

During the Skill Set, you will learn how to:

  • Support HR functions and processes
  • Coordinate recruitment and onboarding
  • Support employee and industrial relations procedures
  • Administer performance development processes

Entry Requirements

There are no mandated education entry requirements for this Skill Set.

There are no mandatory Open Colleges entry requirements.

It is also recommended that students

  • Are 18 years old (note: students under 18 will need permission from a parent or guardian to enrol
  • Have language, literacy and numeracy skills that ensure the ability to read and comprehend technical terms and communicate effectively through email. These skills are equivalent to those that would be required to successfully complete Year 10 or ACSF Level 3, or
  • Have completed a qualification at a Certificate III level or higher
  • Have access to a modern computer with video / audio playback capabilities and high-speed internet
  • Have access to Microsoft Office or equivalent
  • Have basic computing skills, including the ability to make a short video
  • Have access to a digital video recording device to save and upload video/image files to OpenSpace, e.g., mobile phone/smartphone.

Minimum age

You will need to be at least 18 years old.

Physical requirements

You’ll be required to operate office equipment and resources including telephone, photocopier, scanner and printer in a safe environment that includes an ergonomically sound computer workstation.

Equipment and tools

This course includes a requirement to record video and/ or audio roleplays.  These will require participation by 1-2 other people sourced by you.
