Since completing her Diploma of Interior Decoration & Design in 2009 at NMIT, Ella spent some time working in the UK as an interior designer & decorator specialising in soft furnishings.

Before coming to join the Bloom Interior Design team, Ella worked with a firm designing & consulting in the area of kitchens and bathrooms.

Ella prides herself on her clear understanding of the importance of the small details and the functionality of a space. Ella believes that your home is an extension of who you are and should reflect your chosen lifestyle.

1 In a few sentences, tell us about your career journey and how it has evolved?

I was lucky enough to know what I wanted to do as a career from a young age. After studying interior design I worked in various jobs in the industry, working my way up to an interior designer. It is such a wonderful feeling working in a field that you’ve always wanted to be a part of, and doing a job that you love!

2 What are some of the upcoming trends in interior design?

We are currently using a lot of blues in our schemes, as well as bits of yellow. We are also seeing a bit of green being used.

3 What other skills, (outside of design itself) are necessary to perform well as an interior designer?

Most definitely people skills, a big part of the job is liaising with clients so it is important that you’re confident in dealing with people, and knowing how to handle any difficult situations that may arise.

4 What advice would you offer students looking to get into the interior design industry?

To be persistent with any opportunity you have, and to make the most of any networking opportunities that you come across. Networking is very important!
