What’s the best part about your job?

Helping animals recover from illness and injury.

What’s been your career highlight?

My career highlight has been caring for all patients and reuniting them with their owners after an illness or injury.

What’s the most challenging part of your job?

The sleepless nights worrying about critically ill patients in hospital and the heartache of saying goodbye.

What surprised you the most about working as a vet nurse?

The dedication of the vets and all the support staff for each and every patient that comes through the hospital.

How many hours do you work a week?

I’m contracted full time for 38 hours, not including on call hours and overtime.

What attributes do you need to be a good vet nurse?

A strong stomach, caring nature, general interest in medicine and medical procedures, flexibility to work back late, and the availability to assist where there is an emergency. Also, a strong team work ethic and a love for all creatures.
