Course: Certificate in Galileo eLearning

In partnership with Galileo by Travelport, Open Colleges (formerly Cengage Education) provides access to Galileo eLearning and training in how to use the Galileo computer reservation system. Galileo (sometimes known as Apollo or Worldspan) enables travel agents and airlines to access information about flight schedules, fares, hotel rates, car rentals and other essential travel information.

Suitable for aspiring travel agents or as refresher training, this Galileo course will equip you with a range of core skills. You will learn how to research and sell flights, work with booking files and price an itinerary. Additional modules provide training in e-ticketing and car and accommodation reservations.

  • Clue Cards (1-page quick reference guides to commonly used cryptic formats)
  • Ask Travelport (Galileo's online troubleshooting tool, with over 6000 Galileo question and answers)

Entry requirements

Minimum education

  • Year 10 or equivalent OR
  • relevant qualification OR
  • relevant vocational experience.

Minimum age

Minimum age of 16 years. If you are under 18 your application must be signed by a parent or guardian.

Computer requirements

Students will need access to a computer and the internet. For students who do not have access to either a computer or the internet please contact a Student Services advisor to discuss alternative methods of communication.

Minimum specifications for the computer are:

  • Microsoft Office 2003 or equivalent, and
  • Microsoft Windows 98, or
  • Mac OS X, and
  • CD-ROM drive

Students will also need access to a printer and the following plug-ins:

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader and
  • Macromedia Flash player including Microsoft Java Virtual Machine
  • Pop-up blockers on the web browser must be turned off.

English language requirements

If English is not your first language and you did not complete the last two years of secondary education in English, you are required to provide evidence of English language competency before enrolling into the course. Examples of appropriate evidence are listed below:
