/ Polytechnic West TAFE Courses and Campus Information

Polytechnic West was first established in the 1900’s. It has undergone a number of names changes, including Swan TAFE, South East Metropolitan College of TAFE, Midland College of TAFE and Perth Technical School. It took its current name in 2009 and now provides Technical and Further Education (TAFE) courses from Certificate I level, to Associate Degrees.

Polytechnic West sees around 30,000 students enrol there each year, making it one of the largest training providers in Western Australia. It has 6 main campuses, including Armadale, Balga, Bentley, Carlisle, Midland and Thornlie. It also has 2 specialist centres, one for equine and another for AeroSpace. However, their study areas range from Automotive and Business to Construction and Fashion.

Open Colleges is not affiliated with Polytechnic West. This page is an information page only.

Open Colleges has a partnership with North Coast TAFE to deliver a series of TAFE courses in an online format.

Studying online vs. studying on campus

If you do not wish to study on campus, or if you are located in an area with limited or no access to TAFE courses, you may wish to consider online study. With Open Colleges’ unique model – you can study a select number of TAFE courses with Open Colleges’ trademark learning benefits:

  • Supportive: Our dedicated team of student support staff are on hand to help you achieve your goals from start to finish.
  • Affordable: Choose a payment method that suits your needs: monthly, fortnightly or weekly payment plans.
  • Flexible: Study when you can, no due dates, no start times. Structure your study around your current commitments.
