/ Queensland North TAFE Courses and Campus Information

TAFE Queensland North is one of 6 Institutes providing Technical and Further Education (TAFE) courses in Queensland. Together, this network of Institutes makes up TAFE Queensland. TAFE Queensland North was formed in 2013 through the merger of Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE and Tropical North Queensland TAFE.

It is the largest TAFE Institute in the region, with seventeen campuses. These include Atherton, Bamaga, Bowen, Burdekin, Cairns, Cannonvale, Charters Towers, Cloncurry, Ingham, Innisfail, Mareeba, Mount Isa, Normanton, Palm Island, Thursday Island, Townsville and a Trade Training Centre in Bohle. Training is provided across these campuses as well as online, with TAFE Queensland North running 380 courses in total, in 11 different study areas.

Open Colleges is not affiliated with TAFE Queensland North. This page is an information page only.

Open Colleges has a partnership with North Coast TAFE to deliver a series of TAFE courses in an online format.

Studying online vs. studying on campus

If you do not wish to study on campus, or if you are located in an area with limited or no access to TAFE courses, you may wish to consider online study. With Open Colleges’ unique model – you can study a select number of TAFE courses with Open Colleges’ trademark learning benefits:

  • Supportive: Our dedicated team of student support staff are on hand to help you achieve your goals from start to finish.
  • Affordable: Choose a payment method that suits your needs: monthly, fortnightly or weekly payment plans.
  • Flexible: Study when you can, no due dates, no start times. Structure your study around your current commitments.
