Western Institute of TAFE

Western Institute of TAFE (WIT) is one of 10 Institutes across NSW who provide Technical and Further Education (TAFE) courses. WIT is also geographically the largest of these Institutes, with 24 colleges and more than 60 associated centres. The colleges, which are spread out across the region include Bathurst, Bourke, Brewarrina, Broken Hill, Cobar, Condobolin, Coonamble, Cowra, Dubbo, Dunedoo, Forbes, Gilgandra, Grenfell, Lightening Ridge, Lithgow, Menindee, Mudgee, Nyngan, Orange, Parkes, Walgett, Warren, Wellington and Wilcannia.

The Western Institute enrols around 37,000 students each year, who then have a choice from around 400 different courses.

Open Colleges has a partnership with North Coast TAFE to deliver a series of TAFE courses in an online format.

Studying online vs. studying on campus

If you do not wish to study on campus, or if you are located in an area with limited or no access to TAFE Courses, you may wish to consider online study. With Open Colleges’ unique model – you can study a select number of TAFE courses with Open Colleges’ trademark learning benefits:

  • Supportive: Our dedicated team of student support staff are on hand to help you achieve your goals from start to finish.
  • Affordable: Choose a payment method that suits your needs: monthly, fortnightly or weekly payment plans.
  • Flexible: Study when you can, no due dates, no start times. Structure your study around your current commitments.
