This hands-on course gets you job-ready so that when you finish your study, you can walk straight into work as a beauty therapist.

Study Beauty Therapy Online

This course is delivered through a combination of online learning and a work placement. Theory, knowledge and initial skills are developed via our online campus OpenSpace, which is where you can access your course material and complete your assessments.

Practical skills in beauty therapy are gained through a work placement which you will do in in a beauty salon or other appropriate workplace. We can advise you on how to find a suitable work placement.

You will need to have completed year 10, or equivalent. Equivalency can be demonstrated by one of the following:

  • A qualification at Certificate II level or higher OR
  • 2 years of industry experience in a role that requires the use of written documentation and communication.

Minimum age

You will need to be at least 18 years old.


This course involves reading learning content and undertaking a range of written assessments and engaging in online forums and discussions. Furthermore, the delivery mode relies on the extensive use of written communication. As such, entry to the course requires the successful completion of English to Year 12 level.

If you haven't successfully completed English at Year 12 level, you can demonstrate equivalency through one of the following:

  • Successful completion of a Nationally Recognised Training qualification at Certificate III level or higher; or
  • 3 years relevant industry experience in a role that requires the use of written documentation and communication

The workplace will need to provide beauty treatments and have access to a full comprehensive range of professional products for each practical treatment performed. Examples of suitable workplaces include beauty salons and beauty/retreat spas.
