Open entry. Previous schooling and academic achievements are not required for entry into this course.

Minimum age of 18 years.

Computer requirements

Students will need access to a computer and the internet. For students who do not have access to either a computer or the internet please contact a course and careers adviser to discuss alternative methods of communication.

Minimum specifications for the computer are:

  • Microsoft Office 2003 or equivalent and
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 or Mac OS X and
  • CD-ROM drive.

Students will also need access to a printer and the following applications:

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader and
  • Macromedia Flash player.

English language requirements

Students are required to provide one piece of evidence of English language proficiency before enrolling into the course, as outlined below:

Workplace requirements

Students must complete 20 hours' practical placement. The practical placement includes 14 hours of observation and six hours of practical teaching. Practical placement may be completed at any time during the course.

Students who successfully complete the Certificate IV in TESOL 30920QLD may go on to further studies in this discipline.

Amongst Costa's qualifications, the following feature prominently: Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, a Diploma of Teaching, a Bachelor of Education, a Graduate Diploma of Education (TESOL), a Master of Education (TESOL) and a Master of Business Administration.

In 2009, Costa was awarded a scholarship by the Queensland University of Technology to complete a postgraduate degree by research in applied science.
