Credit Transfer

If you have successfully completed the Certificate IV in Accounting FNS40610, you are eligible for credit for nine units in this course.

Recognition of Prior Learning

If you have successfully completed the Certificate IV in Accounting FNS40604, you will only need to complete nine specified units to gain your Diploma of Accounting FNS50210. If you hold a Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping) FNS40207 and successfully complete the Bridging Course for Bookkeepers, you only need to complete 10 specified units to gain your Diploma of Accounting FNS50210.

Entry requirements

Minimum education

School Certificate with high marks in accounting/commerce/maths) or equivalent OR relevant qualifications such as Certificate III in Accounts Administration FNS30310 OR relevant vocational experience.

If you hold a Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping) FNS40207, you will first need to complete the Open Colleges Bridging Course for Bookkeepers, which includes three additional units required to complete this course. Minimum age

Minimum age of 16 years. If you are under 18 your application must be signed by a parent or guardian.

Computer requirements

Students will need access to a computer and the internet. For students who do not have access to either a computer or the internet please contact a student support officer to discuss alternative methods of communication.

Minimum specifications for PC are:

  • Microsoft Office 2003 or equivalent,
  • Microsoft Windows XP and
  • CD-ROM drive.

Students will also need access to a printer and the following applications:

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader and
  • Macromedia Flash player.

English language requirements

If English is not your first language and you did not complete the last two years of secondary education in English, you are required to provide evidence of English language competency before enrolling into the course. Examples of appropriate evidence are listed below:

She has numerous qualifications to her credit, including a PhD in Accounting, a Master of Commerce (Accounting), Bachelor of Commerce with Honours in Accounting, as well as a Diploma of Business (Accounting). Her main areas of academic training and expertise are accounting, finance and computerised accounting. Nilima has also written many accounting courses and modules.

She thrives on a challenge and enjoys helping others to achieve their best. Nilima's career goal is to impart knowledge to students in a manner that continually inspires them to learn.

Cameron Clark

Cameron Clark

Cameron Clark has more than 25 years of finance experience, having worked for chartered accounting firms such as Coopers & Lybrand for 10 years and then in the commercial world.

In his chartered accounting years, Cameron worked in business services, focusing on small to medium-sized businesses within Australia. In 1994, Cameron moved to London and into the commercial environment, working for an American energy company for three years. He then returned to Australia to work for Channel 7.

Cameron has been the finance director for a telecommunications company, financial controller of the Real Estate Institute of NSW and the CFO of an Australian subsidiary of Microsoft.

Extremely well qualified, Cameron has a Bachelor of Economics and Master of Economics, and is an Australian chartered accountant. He also has a Diploma in Business (Real Estate Management), a Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment, and is a master NLP coach and a licensed business improvement specialist.

Doug Gourlay

Doug Gourlay has been helping others to learn for more than 25 years, lecturing in financial management, management accounting, computerised accounting and a range of other computer application subjects.

He is a published author with a range of textbooks to his credit, including several self-paced guides covering MYOB business software products, and has extensive experience with learning in an off-campus or on-line mode.
