Course: Certificate IV in Accounting FNS40610

Providing ideal preparation for a variety of accounts roles, this course has been developed specifically to meet the needs of distance learners.

As part of the FNS10 Financial Services Training Package, the Certificate IV in Accounting FNS40610 will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to undertake operational reporting, prepare simple management reports and perform financial calculations. It also provides training in the MYOB computerised accounting system and meets the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) education requirements for registered BAS (Business Activity Statements) agents.

Start anytime, study at your own pace either online or by correspondence, and graduate with a qualification that could lead to interesting work or provide the basis for promotion or further studies. Experienced trainers are available to guide you through your course. Become a qualified BAS agent

The Association of Accounting Technicians Australia and the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) both recognise the Certificate IV in Accounting FNS40610. Upon successful completion of your course, the TPB will recognise you as having met the educational requirements to register as a BAS (Business Activity Statement) agent. This course meets the TPB's current educational requirements for registered BAS agents, as well as the new requirements effective from 1 March 2012. Additional eligibility criteria apply. Entry requirements

Minimum education

  • School Certificate or equivalent OR
  • relevant qualifications such as Certificate III in Accounts Administration FNS30310 OR
  • relevant vocational experience.

Minimum age

Minimum age of 16 years. If you are under 18 your application must be signed by a parent or guardian.

Computer requirements

Students will need access to a computer and the internet. For students who do not have access to either a computer or the internet please contact a student support officer to discuss alternative methods of communication.

Minimum specifications for PC are:

  • Microsoft Office 2003 or equivalent,
  • Microsoft Windows XP and
  • CD-ROM drive.

Students will also need access to a printer and the following applications:

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader and
  • Macromedia Flash player.

English language requirements

If English is not your first language and you did not complete the last two years of secondary education in English, you are required to provide evidence of English language competency before enrolling into the course. Examples of appropriate evidence are listed below:

Successful completion of the Certificate IV in Accounting FNS40610 leads to partial completion of (and allows direct articulation into) the Diploma of Accounting FNS50210.
